CODEX ATLANTICUS MILANO
Codex Atlanticus is a 12-volume, bound set of drawings and writings by Leonardo da Vinci. Its name indicates the large paper used to preserve original Leonardo notebook pages, which was used for cartography and atlases. This painting resembles various parts of Milano yet, it is not the city I have much enjoyed but an interpretation of it. I would start with the centre image, it is a take on Biblioteca Ambrosiana, it is the place where the written works of Leonardo da Vinci are stored and sometimes displayed including various volumes of the Codex Atlanticus. The top-left frame resembles Bosco Verticale, a residential development built in 2012 covered with greenery and foliage, the first of this kind of green building with all irrigation systems integrated into the structure. The top-right frame is Porta Nuova, a development built in the hart of Milan with residential and office spaces around an agora or central patio. The landscape image at the bottom is the cityescape with Torre Velasca on the right and Parco Sempione on the left. The canals do not exist but shows a return to the canal system though by D'Vinci five centuries ago.
